Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Novarum Scholar ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including free and paid subscribers.

Novarum Scholar is an AI-assisted academic research digest. We automatically fetch publicly available academic articles and preprints matching your chosen keywords, generate plain-language summaries using AI, and deliver them to your inbox on your chosen schedule.

What we are not: We are not a publisher, library, or academic database. We surface links to publicly available research. We do not host, reproduce, or distribute copyrighted academic papers. Links in your digest point directly to the original source.

AI summaries: Summaries are generated by AI and are provided for informational purposes only. They may contain errors or omissions. Always read the original paper before relying on a summary for academic, clinical, or professional purposes.

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
• You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Free plan: Available at no charge with limited features. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free plan with reasonable notice.

Paid plans: Billed monthly in USD. Your subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled.

Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your account page or by emailing info@novarumscholar.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds.

Refunds: We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first payment if you are unsatisfied with the Service. Contact us at info@novarumscholar.com.

Price changes: We will notify subscribers at least 30 days before any price increase. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service at scale
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited commercial messages
• Resell or redistribute digest content without permission
• Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or security
• Use automated means to create multiple accounts

The Novarum Scholar platform, including its code, design, and original content, is owned by us and protected by copyright. AI-generated summaries are produced by us as part of the Service.

Academic articles linked in your digest belong to their respective publishers and authors. We claim no ownership over third-party research content.

You retain ownership of your keywords and account data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your keywords to deliver the Service.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• All relevant papers will be found (coverage depends on third-party databases)
• AI summaries will be accurate or complete
• Links to papers will always be accessible

AI summaries are for informational purposes only and do not constitute academic, medical, legal, or professional advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Novarum Scholar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. For material changes affecting paid subscribers, we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email. For free plan users, we may make changes without notice.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
